Oficinas do Convento

Oficinas do Convento is a Non-Profit Cultural Art and Communication Association, based in Montemor-o-Novo. It has been a Non-Governmental Organization for Development since 2009 and a UNESCO Center since 2010. It develops its artistic activity essentially in the fields of Visual Arts, Sound, Design and Heritage, through artistic promotion, training, production and dissemination.

It has its headquarters in the Convent of S. Francisco, in a protocol of use with the Municipality, since 1996. It carries out a large part of its activity there, based on the Convent's facilities: studios, workshops, multipurpose room, offices, kitchen and dormitories. Since then, it has also managed the Telheiro da Encosta do Castelo: an artisanal ceramic production unit, which maintains the production of traditional products (brick, terrazzo, tile and pottery), hosts artistic production actions (large and small format ceramic sculpture) and carries out research within the scope of new materials and products (design, architecture and sculpture).
